1)  Energy Cost Relief for Rural Communities

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Rural Utility Service requests applications for the High Energy Cost Grant Program.  This program supports projects that provide, improve, or reduce the costs of energy generation, transmission, and distribution services for rural communities with home energy costs that are over 275 percent of the national average.  On-grid and off-grid renewable energy projects, and energy efficiency, and energy conservation projects are eligible.  $19.5 million expected to be available, award range $75K to $5 million.  Responses due 7/25/05.  For more info, contact Karen Larsen at energy.grants@usda.gov or go to:

2)  Renewables in Nevada

The Sierra Pacific Power Co. and Nevada Power Co. request proposals for electricity generated from renewable fuel sources and/or renewable energy credits (REC). This RFP is open to those parties who currently own, propose to develop, or have rights to a generating facility or renewable energy and/or RECs, which qualify under the Nevada Renewable Energy Act.  This RFP is limited to proposals that have generating facilities with a gross capacity of: 

Non-Solar Proposals: 30 kW or larger; Solar Proposals: 30 kW or larger.

3)  Renewables in Brazil

The U.S. Agency for International Development seeks applications for Renewable Energy & Development in Brazil.  Recipients would be responsible for ensuring use of renewable energy and energy efficiency interventions as a means to promote social inclusion and economic development while also addressing climate change.

4)  Power Dense Fuel Cell

The U.S. Department of the Air Force requests proposals to develop a 1.5kW nominal solid oxide fuel cell power unit capable of continued operation on desulfurized JP8 fuel.  $2.6 million expected to be available, 1 award anticipated.  Responses due 7/21/05.

5)  Five Solar Systems

6)  Federal Facilities in TX

7)  STAC

The State Technologies Advancement Collaborative requests applications for Energy Efficiency Research, Development, Demonstration, Deployment, and Rebuild America Projects.  Areas of interest include:

Rebuild America, Building Technologies, Industrial Technologies, T ransportation Technologies, and Distributed Energy Resources.  Special emphasis is on the dissemination of results from selected projects and the transfer of technology for broad application and impact.  Multi-state partnerships are required, the lead applicant must be either a State Energy Office or State-Chartered Institution.

8)  PATH

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requests pre-applications for Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) Cooperative Research in Housing Technologies.  The purpose of PATH is to advance technologies that have the potential for improving housing performance.  Technology advances may include but are not limited to:  Use of new materials, components and systems to complete houses, which improve the quality, durability, efficiency and environmental performance, and/or affordability of housing.  HUD is also interested in eliminating barriers to the acceptance of these new and emerging technologies by the building industry, State and Local governments, homeowners and homebuyers.  Responses due 7/23/05.  For more info, go to:

9)  Energy Star Manufactured Homes

10)  Smart Growth Leadership Summit

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals to develop and convene a prominent annual Smart Growth Leadership Summit for key public officials and civic or private sector leaders who are noted pioneers in implementing the principles of smart growth.

12)  In-School Environmental Asthma Education – Region 3

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 3, requests proposals for In-School Environmental Asthma Education.  Proposals should focus on the direct education of asthmatic children about the management/intervention of environmental triggers in their surroundings.  Projects must take place in Region 3 (DE, D.C., MD, PA, VA, WV).  $50K expected to be available, 4 proposals anticipated.  Responses due 6/13/05.

13)  Cleaner Water - Region 5

14)  Tribal Radon Project - Region 5

17)  Tribal Indoor Radon Projects - Region 9

21)  Clear Skies

22)  Indigenous Leadership
