1) Chemicals Industry of the Future

The U.S. Department of Energy requests R&DD applications for energy efficient technologies that will enhance the competitive position of the nation?s chemical industry by lowering manufacturing costs and providing new opportunities for chemical product manufacture in regions where energy or environmental costs were formerly considered prohibitive. Proposed projects are expected to improve energy intensity by at least 30% over existing systems. $10 million expected to be available, 5 to 10 awards anticipated. Responses due 1/11/06.

2) Chemical Imaging

The U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science requests applications for projects on the basic research needed to advance chemical imaging.

Proposed research must advance the scientific objectives within one of the nine core research areas in the Chemical Sciences, Geosciences and Biosciences Division: Atomic, Molecular and Optical Sciences; Chemical Physics; Photochemistry and Radiation Research; Catalysis and Chemical Transformations; Separations and Analysis; Heavy Element Chemistry; Chemical Energy and Chemical Engineering; Geosciences Research; and Energy Biosciences Research. 3) PG&E Energy Efficiency and Demand Response Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E)

requests proposals for its 2006-2008 Energy Efficiency Program Portfolio from third parties who can deliver demand reductions and/or energy savings. PG&E seeks proposals for all markets in its energy efficiency portfolio except:

1) Non-resource programs which do not produce measurable energy savings; and 2) Programs that duplicate PG&E?s PY2006 - 2008 Mass Market statewide-consistent program. Proposals due 10/19/05.

4) Wisconsin Environmental Research

Wisconsin's Focus on Energy requests proposals for the Environmental Research Program. This program supports research projects that study the environmental effects of electrical generation and transmission in WI. Research areas of interest include the siting of renewable energy facilities, the ecological impacts of transmission line development, and the short-term effects of global warming and greenhouse gasses.

5) Arctic Research Opportunities

The National Science Foundation (NSF) requests proposals for conducting research in the Arctic, including field and modeling studies and data analysis. Program areas include but are not limited to: 1) The Arctic System Science (ARCSS) Program. ARCSS supports studies that predict and analyze the consequences of environmental variability and global change important to wise stewardship of renewable resources and development of decision and policy options for resource managers and residents. 2) The Bering Ecosystem Study (BEST). Particular emphasis should be placed on understanding how the shelf ecosystem (including human societies) responds to climate change. $16 million expected to be available, 80 awards anticipated.

6) Technical Assistance for Housing Programs

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requests applications for the Community Development Technical Assistance Program (CD-TA). The purpose of CD-TA is to provide national and local technical assistance to achieve the highest level of performance and results for six separate community development program areas including but not limited to HOME Investment Partnerships Program for Community Housing Development Organizations, and Community Development Block Grants. 7) Commercial Construction Study

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance seeks professional services to perform a study of new commercial construction characteristics and practices in WA, ID, MT and OR. This study will include a high-level analysis of electric and gas consumption for these building types.

9) Solar Array in Space

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) requests information (this is not a request for quotes or bids) regarding the procurement of a Light-Weight Solar Array (LWSA) for the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft. This subsystem would include the solar cells/electrical hardware, support structure/substrate, and any array unfolding devices as necessary. 10) Hybrid Vehicles for Future Combat Systems General Dynamics Land Systems requests quotes for a Future Combat Systems (FCS) Manned Ground Vehicle (MGV) Integrated Power & Energy System Concept Study. The FCS MGV is a System of Systems concept of manned Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) in the nominal 24 US ton weight class. 11) Science of Design

The National Science Foundation requests proposals for the Science of Design (SoD) Program. SoD supports creative, scientific advances to design as it pertains to computer-based artifacts, especially software-intensive systems. Importing and adapting ideas from other design fields (engineering, urban planning, architecture, economics and the arts, for example) is encouraged. 12) Environmental Justice in Los Angeles County

The Liberty Hill Foundation requests applications for its Environmental Justice Fund (EJF). 13) Echoing Green

The Echoing Green Fellowship requests applications to support emerging leaders with innovative ideas for tackling seemingly unsolvable social challenges. Fellows receive two years of financial support and strategic counsel to help them develop and test their ideas.
