1. Environmental Education Grants

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for the Environmental Education Grants Program (EEGP). EEGP supports environmental education projects that promote environmental stewardship and help develop aware and responsible students, teachers, and citizens. $3 million expected to be available, 150 awards anticipated. 2. Office of Science

The U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Science, announces its continuing interest in receiving applications for support of work in areas including but not limited to Basic Energy Sciences, High Energy Physics, and Biological and Environmental Research. Sub areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Climate Change Research, Materials Sciences and Engineering, Chemical Sciences and Energy Biosciences. 3. National Research Initiative

The U.S. Department of Agriculture requests applications for the National Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program (NRI). NRI supports research, extension, and education projects that address key problems of national, regional, and multi-state importance in sustaining all components of agriculture. 29 program areas identified including Biobased Products and Bioenergy Production; Water and Watersheds; and Rural Development. 4. Strategic Agricultural Initiative

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for the Strategic Agricultural Initiative Grant Program. This program supports efforts by the agricultural community to "transition" away from high risk pesticides to the use of less and reduced risk pesticides, alternative methods of pest control and sustainable

practices in agriculture. Projects must be implemented in EPA

5. Tribal Agricultural Research

The U.S. Department of Agriculture requests applications for the Tribal Colleges Research Grants Program (TCRGP). TCRGP funds investigative and analytical studies and experimentation in the food and agricultural sciences in areas including but not limited to sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry, biotechnology, and aquaculture. 6. Tribal Air Grants ? Region 5

7. Indoor IAQ

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for Indoor Environments: Reducing Public Exposure to Indoor Pollutants.

This program supports demonstration, training, education, and/or outreach projects that seek to reduce exposure to indoor air pollutants. $4 million expected to be available, up to 25 awards anticipated. 8. Diesel Emissions Retrofit

The Washington State Department of Ecology requests applications from WA cities for Diesel Emissions Retrofit Grants. This program will assist cities of all sizes to buy and install emission control devices on Heavy Duty diesel vehicles such as garbage trucks, dump and maintenance trucks and transit buses. $2 million expected to be available, up to 100 awards anticipated and 1,000 vehicles retrofitted statewide. 9. Particulates and UV Exposure

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests proposals for research on the Implications of Tropospheric Air Pollution for Surface UV Exposures. The goal of this solicitation is to enable research to better understand how changes in tropospheric ozone and particulate matter will alter surface UV exposures. Under current conditions, one in five Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime and one American dies every hour from this disease. $600K expected to be available, 2 awards anticipated. 10. Oceans and Climate Variability

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration requests proposals for sustaining the U.S. contribution to the global Argo Project. A primary purpose of Argo is to measure seasonal to decadal climate variability and predictability. $9.2 million expected to be available, up to 15 awards anticipated.
