3)  Post 1998 Residential Construction

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance seeks professional services to perform a study of residential new construction characteristics and practices in the Pacific Northwest. 4)  STAC

The State Technologies Advancement Collaborative requests applications for Energy Efficiency Research, Development, Demonstration, Deployment, and Rebuild America Projects.  Areas of interest include: 

Rebuild America, Building Technologies, Industrial Technologies, Transportation Technologies, and Distributed Energy Resources. 

Special emphasis is on the dissemination of results from selected projects and the transfer of technology for broad application and impact.  Multi-state partnerships are required, the lead applicant must be either a State Energy Office or State-Chartered Institution.

5)  USDA SBIR

The U.S. Department of Agriculture requests applications for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program.  The purpose of the USDA SBIR program is to provide an opportunity for U.S. owned, for profit small business firms to submit innovative, applied, R&D projects that address important problems facing American agriculture, and have the potential to lead to significant public benefit if the research is successful.  Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Animal Waste Management, Rural and Community Development, Aquaculture, and Wildlife.  Up to $19.4 million expected to be available, award range $80K to $300K.

8)  Water Quality and Conservation

9)  Offsetting CO2 in Oregon

The Climate Trust requests proposals for projects in Oregon that reduce or sequester carbon dioxide emissions.  The carbon dioxide emission reductions should be in addition to those that would likely occur in the absence of offset project funding.  Projects must be implemented after the carbon funding is awarded, however expansions of existing projects are eligible.  The Trust is interested primarily in projects seeking more than $1 M in carbon funding.  Although there is no price ceiling for projects, The Trust expects to fund projects at a carbon price of $5/metric ton CO2.  The funding the Climate Trust will apply to this effort was provided by Portland General Electric as part of their requirement to offset the emissions from their new power generating facility in Port Westward, OR.  The Climate Trust is seeking a minimum of $4.3 million in carbon dioxide offsets, 2 to 5 project anticipated.  Responses due 8/24/05.  For more info, contact Ted Presberg at tpresberg@climatetrust.org or go to:  http://www.climatetrust.org/solicitations_2005_RFP.php. 

 

10)  Air Monitoring

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requests demonstration project proposals for Local-Scale Air Toxics Ambient Monitoring.  The purpose of these projects is to assist state and local communities to identify and profile air toxics  sources, characterize the degree and extent of local-scale air toxics problems, track progress of air toxics reduction activities, and to develop and assess emerging measurement methods.  $6.25 million expected to be available, up to 15 awards anticipated.  Award range $50K to $500K.  Responses due 8/22/05.

11)  Healthy Indoor Environments - Region 6

14)  Waste to Energy in Texas

17)  Sudan Infrastructure

18)  Romania and Macedonia Energy Sector

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency seeks a contractor to work with the governments of Romania and Macedonia on energy sector projects.  The Government of Macedonia is particularly interested in looking at ways to utilize waste from the agriculture sector, like rapeseeds, and converting it to bio-diesel fuel that can be sold on the European market.  The new Romanian Government elected in 12/2004 is committed to developing a market economy for the energy sector.

The Peter F. Drucker Award for Nonprofit Innovation is given each year to a nonprofit organization that has made a difference in the lives of the people it serves.  The award is accompanied by a first-place prize of $20K and two runners-up prizes of $2.5K each.  To be considered, the programs must further the mission of the organization; have specific and measurable outcomes; exemplify innovation by demonstrating a "new dimension" of performance; have made a difference in the lives of the people they serve; and serve as a model that can be replicated or adapted by other organizations.
