Overview:

Gasification, also known as partial oxidation, has been commercially practiced for many years; most of the installed plants produce ammonia, hydrogen or chemicals. The feedstock for these plants has included natural gas, oil-derived fuels, petroleum coke and coal. Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) is often proposed as an alternate method of converting environmentally disadvantaged fuels into electricity. However, there are many other applications besides electricity where gasification may be economic. This conference will cover IGCC and applications in the electric power and other industries. The unique aspects of gasification projects, including risk management, economics and reliability will also be considered. Register today!

    Who Should Attend This Course:

Anyone whose company is a significant consumer of natural gas, or is considering financing and banking gasification projects, including:

    • Executives concerned with risk mitigation for their fuel supply

    • Owners and operators of electric generating plants

    • Regulators and staff in government agencies

    • Executives, managers and professionals in the energy industries

    Course Instructors:

Chris Higman has 35 years experience in process plant design, maintenance and operation, and is a recognized gasification expert. Chris's gasification-related experience includes many years at Lurgi GmbH where Chris was responsible for design and sales of ammonia, methanol, hydrogen, synfuels (GTL) and other plants, primarily based on gasification processes. Chris is the co-author of Gasification, the leading text on the subject, and is now an independent consultant based near Frankfurt, Germany.

Jim Falsetti is a recognized gasification technology industry leader with over 25 years experience in project development, worldwide marketing and sales, and product line management. Jim worked in every aspect of gasification during his more than 20 years at Texaco. He now runs Process Energy Solutions, Inc., a gasification project development and consulting company based in Connecticut, USA.
