       A Recent survey shows that:

1.     China preserves exploitable water resources of 400 million KW, yearly capacity of 1.7 trillion KW. Among which micro hydro power reserves that less than 50 thousand KW is 125 million KW, and widely distributed. By the end of 2004, the installed capacity of hydro power in China had reached 108.26 million KW, with micro hydro power of 34.1 million.

2.     At least 2 billion exploitable wind resources. 44 wind farms have been built in 2004, with the install capacity of 764 thousands KW. Besides, there are about 200 thousand micro wind power used in the ulterior region, with the install capacity of 30 thousands KW.

3.     Agricultural wastes were widely spread in China, stalk, which can be used as energy sources, equals reserves of 180 million tons coal. Organic waste water from industry and store farm can produce marsh gas as much as 57 million ton coal can. Quantity of resource of firewood, timberland and waste from wood processing, equals 300 million ton standard coal.

At present, China produce 120 million tons household garbage, this figure will reach to 210 million in the year of 2020. If used to produce gas or generate electricity, it can save 13 million tons standard coal every year. In addition, some oil crops, take Barbadosnut for example, can used to produce liquid fuel. It was expect by the year of 2020, the quantity of bio-diesel and ethanol produced by agricultural oil corps, woody plant and other energy plant will equals 100 million tons standard coal. At the first estimate, the useable bio-energy every year was tantamount to 300 million ton standard coal.

4.     3.3 billion cube meters marsh gas were produced every year by all the countries in China. Over 2000 large and middle marsh gas projects, with the install capacity of bio-energy of 2 million KW.

5.     China receives the energy that from sun radiant was be equivalent to 170 billion tons standard coal. By the end of 2004, China had installed photovoltaic cell 50 thousand KW, which were mainly used for supplying power for ulterior region and traffic, communication and other relevant fields. Test and demonstration of on-grid photovoltaic system had already been carried out. There are over 10 factories for photovoltaic cell production and installation.
