US crude imports dip below 10-mil b/d, gasoline output down: EIA
New York (Platts)--20Apr2005
US crude imports fell by 145,000 b/d to 9.7-mil b/d last week, the Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday. EIA noted that over the last four weeks, crude imports have averaged over 10-mil b/d, but were 58,000 b/d less than during the comparable four-week average last year. Gasoline imports last week inched up to 1.09-mil b/d from the prior week's 1.002-mil b/d, while distillate fuel imports of 282,000 b/d were higher than the 253,000 b/d for the prior week. EIA did not release any preliminary information on the origin of crude or product imports. US refinery inputs last week rose by 137,000 b/d to nearly 15.4-mil b/d, according to EIA, as refineries operated at 91.8%, upfrom 91% in the prior week. But EIA noted that, despite the increase in refinery inputs, gasoline production dipped to 8.660-mil b/d from 8.698-mil b/d in the prior week. Distillate output, however, rose to 4.093-mil b/d from 4.078-mil b/d, according to EIA's data. This story was originally published in Platts Global Alert http://www.globalalert.platts.com
