Arab electricity ministers to meet in April

The Arab electricity ministers council is to hold its 6th session on 13 April
at the Arab League (AL) HQ in Cairo under the chairmanship of Sudan to discuss
the completion of an Arab power grid.
During the two-day meeting, participating ministers will discuss a number of
electricity projects linking Arab states, currently in the making. A source at
the pan-Arab body said a power grid linking the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)
member states will be finalized by the year 2008. Mauritania, Djibouti and
Palestine have asked to join the Arab power linkage venture, the source added.
