Happy Birthday!!
The most effective law worldwide to promote the use of renewable energy celebrates its 5th birthday. And there is good reason to celebrate!
The Renewable-Energy-Law (EEG), passed in Germany in 2000, has contributed considerably to the 130,000 jobs in the industry, the saving of 35 million tons of greenhouse gases from being released into the atmosphere, and to the 40 billion kilowatt hours of renewable energy produced.
It is no coincidence that other countries are following suit. The Czech Republic, China, and France have similar laws planned. In Spain, royal decree 436/2004, which is similar to the EEG, guarantees lucrative compensation for photovoltaic solar usage.
In Taiwan,
the “regulation for the development of renewable energy” targets an
increase from today’s 5.4% to 10% in 2010. The country’s president Chen
Shui-bian is a great role model: there is a 90m˛-solar system installed
on his palace.

Expect a considerable boom in solar energy!
