Saudi Arabia rushing to add 300,000 b/d of capacity in Q1 2006

Dubai (Platts)--11Apr2005

Saudi Arabia has challenged contractors to try to complete work on the Haradh
Gas Oil Separation Plant six months ahead of schedule for a first-quarter 2006
start-up of a project that will add 300,000 b/d of light crude oil to the
kingdom's production capacity. The latest development report on the GOSP-3
project posted on Saudi Aramco's web site says the company's vice-president
for project management urged contractors Tehint International Construction
Corp to try to deliver the project ahead of schedule during a tour of
facilities at the south end of the Ghawar field, the world's biggest oilfield.
"The gas-oil separation plant for the Haradh Arabian Light crude Increment-III
will have production capacities of 300,000 b/d of crude oil and 140-mil cu
ft/d of associated gas," Saudi Aramco said. Maria Dell-Acqua, chief operating
officer of Techint, was quoted as reitering Techint's "commitment to doing
everything possible to meet the challenge."
