Expert Seminar to Take Place During “RENEXPO® 2005” in Augsburg, Germany

Cooling and Climate Control with Biomass

In Germany, the energy production from biomass currently booms. Until today, most installed plants produce heat, but it is also technically possible to generate cooling energy – a large market potential!

The expert seminar „Cooling and Climate Control with Biomass“ (German) at Fairground Augsburg, Germany on September, 23rd shows technical feasibility of cooling technologies based on the combustion of biomass and, at the same time, rises awareness to this new technology. German-based IER Institute for Energy Industry and Efficient Use of Energy at the University of Stuttgart is not only partner of the conference, but also leading researcher on the subject.

The production of cooling energy from (waste) heat in biomass plants may lead to an improved integration of the power plant into local energy demands. Therefore, not only the energetic exploitation of the fuel is improved, but also the daily hours of operation and the overall time of operation can be extended.

In the meantime, a number of biomass plants have been installed which release cooling energy of different temperatures. The energy is used for several purposes including air conditioning for office buildings, hospitals, breweries, etc. Some of these projects will be presented during the seminar.

The expert seminar is a must for representatives from the energy industry, agriculture and forestry, R&D, engineering companies, and environmental activist groups.
