Global Green USA to Unveil Climate Solutions for Communities; Assemblywoman Fran Pavley to host Inaugural Climate Hearings

WHEN
Thursday, August 11, 2005
Press Conference: 9:30 a.m. (PST)
Hearing: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (PST)

WHERE
Santa Monica City Hall Front Steps
1685 Main St.
Santa Monica, CA

WHAT
Global Green USA will release its Climate Change Report, "Community Development through Climate Solutions," and detail some of its key findings that demonstrate ways to combat climate change while aiding community development. The authors of the study will be available to comment on the unique financial models tested and the opportunity for Los Angeles to be a model city for implementing smart solutions to climate change that will benefit inner city communities.

WHY
A recent poll shows that more than 86 percent of Californians believe Global Warming is happening and that California should do something about it. Assembly Member Pavley and even Governor Schwarzenegger agree that California must take the lead in addressing the threats posed by climate change. As we consider solutions, its critical to make sure that these benefits help Californiašs communities that are most in need.

Investing in inner-city communities through greenhouse gas emissions offsets and other strategies that can combat global warming, pays back through a number of channels: reduced energy costs, lower pollution, empowerment of distressed communities, economic development, improved health and safer environments.
