US retail regular retail gasoline setting new highs daily: AAA

New York (Platts)--16Aug2005
The nationwide average price of self-serve regular gasoline has set a new
record high price everyday since Aug 8, when the price reached $2.339/gal, and
since then has increased an additional 18.5 cts/gal to its current $2.524, the
American Automobile Association said Tuesday in its mid-month price snapshot.

AAA said the nationwide average price of self-serve regular is now 20.4 cts
higher than one month ago and 65.5 cts higher than one year ago. While most of
the increase was linked to sharply higher crude costs, crude stocks "appear to
be more than adequate to meet current demand" in the US, it said.

In New England, the average price since last month went from $2.378 to
$2.509/gal, while the Mid-Atlantic saw prices go from $2.348 to $2.523, and
the Great Lake states moved from $2.323 to $2.563. Prices have gone from
$2.227 to $2.435/gal in the Southeast, while in the Southwest the average
price jumped from $2.287 to $2.477. In the Midwest, the price rose from $2.257
to $2.482. In the West, the average price went from $2.408 to $2.538/gal.
