BEIJING, Dec 20, 2005 -- AsiaPulse

State-owned China Power Investment Corp. and Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd, China's largest wind electric power generator manufacturer, have signed an agreement on equipment supply for 3 billion yuan (US$371.6 million) worth wind power plant construction projects in East and Northwest China.

The agreement, covering a 200,000 kW wind power generating project in Yancheng Dongtai, East China's Jiangsu province and another project with a handling capacity of 100,000 kW in Jiuquan Anxi, Northwest China's Gansu province, is scheduled to start construction in 2006 and the commercial operation is likely to start in 2008.

It is learned that the Dongtai project is now the country's largest wind power generating plant, with an annual yielding capacity of 500 million kWh of electricity.

Goldwind Science & Technology Co., which is capable of producing 600, 750, 800 and 1,200 kW specs of wind power generators units, supplies the proposed wind power plants with 750 and 1,200 kW specs of generators.

Plagued by high international energy prices, limited domestic energy resources as well as environmental problems caused by traditional energy use, China has geared up its efforts to seek alternative energies such as wind power, solar energy and nuclear power plants.
