A biogas power station planned for central Hungary will process organic manure and waste to produce electricity, Tamas Kovacs, managing director of the company carrying out the investment said. A total of 90,000 tons of organic manure and waste from local farms will be used to produce enough electricity to supply 4,000-5,000 households a year, Kovacs said. The plant in Palhalma will cost Ft 1.5 billion to build and Hungarian agricultural firm Agrospecial expects to see a return of the investment in 8-10 years, Kovacs said. The biogas plant will relieve carbon-monoxide emission by 180,000 tons in the region. The project will be partly financed from own resources, partly from tenders and bank loans, Kovacs said. (MTI)
