Iran's oil reserves among the world's most lasting

Iran is one of the world's most lasting oil reserves among 50 crude producing countries and its last barrel of crude is expected to be produced about 89 years from now.


The latest figures issued by BP indicate that Iraq, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates will enjoy oil for more than 100 years to come and Iran ranks the fourth in this regard followed by Kazakhstan and Venezuela which are expected to have oil for 83 and 70 more years, respectively.

Total proven oil reserves of Iran have been mentioned at 132.5 bn barrels, ranking the second after Saudi Arabia which enjoys 262 bn barrels crude. However, lifetime of Saudi oil reserves has been set at 65 years by BP.


The United States has 29 bn barrels oil which will last for 11 years from now and China, which is one of the world's biggest consumers, is expected to pump oil from domestic reserve for 13 years to come.

The lifetime of oil reserves of Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Republic of Azerbaijan, Italy, Norway, Russia, England, Oman, Qatar, Algeria, Libya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand have been determined at 15 years, 10 years, 19 years, 25 years, 60 years, 19 years, 8 years, 21 years, 6 years, 19 years, 42 years, 16 years, 66 years, 18 years, 11 years, 13 years, and 6 years; respectively.
