Summary For July 11-17


Category R1 – (minor) on 12, 13, 14, and 16 July, category R2 –(moderate) on 13 and 14 July, and category R3 (strong) on 14 July radio blackouts occurred due to solar flare activity from NOAA sunspot Regions 786 and 790. Category G1 – (minor) on 11, 12, 13, and 17 July and category G2 – (moderate) on 12 July geomagnetic storm periods were observed due to clouds of magnetic material from activity on the Sun impacting Earth.

Outlook For July 20-26
Category G1 – (minor) and G2 – (moderate) geomagnetic storming is possible on 20 - 22 July due to high speed solar winds from a coronal hole on the Sun.
