Bishop in Challenge on Energy

Jun 23 - Liverpool Echo

THE Bishop of Liverpool was challenging the government today on its environment strategy ahead of the G8 meeting.

The Rt Rev James was due to make his challenge in a debate in the House of Lords about renewable energy.

Bishop James said: 'I feel the Prime Minister can go to the G8 meeting demanding action on Africa and climate change only when his own government has declared its strategy and timetable for carbon emissions and implementation of renewable resources of energy on the scale that's urgently needed.'

The bishop was also calling for the government to vastly increase investment on research into renewable energy.
