QuestAir Technologies signs agreement with HyRadix Inc. for supply of hydrogen purification systems

Jun 27, 2005 - Canada Newswire

BURNABY, BC, June 27 /CNW/ - QuestAir Technologies Inc. (AIM: QAR; TSX: QAR) a developer and supplier of advanced gas purification systems for refinery, industrial and fuel cell markets has signed an agreement to supply its H-3200 hydrogen purification systems to HyRadix Inc., a leading developer of hydrogen generators for industrial and hydrogen fueling applications. QuestAir also received a US$263,000 purchase order from HyRadix for an initial delivery of H-3200 units, to be completed over the next year.

Under the terms of the five-year preferred supplier agreement, QuestAir's H-3200 pressure swing adsorption ("PSA") systems will be integrated into HyRadix's current range of Aptus(TM) and AdDeo(TM) branded hydrogen generators. QuestAir's H-3200 has been customized to replace HyRadix's existing PSA design. The Aptus(TM) and AdDeo(TM) hydrogen generators convert natural gas or propane to hydrogen using proprietary high pressure auto-thermal reforming technology. QuestAir's H-3200 will purify the hydrogen product to the demanding purity specifications required for industrial and fuel cell markets.

Launched commercially in 2004, HyRadix's Aptus(TM) hydrogen generator targets industrial markets including metals treating, float glass plants, semi-conductor fabrication and edible oil processing. The AdDeo(TM) is used in fueling stations serving fuel cell vehicles and internal combustion engines running on hydrogen or natural gas/hydrogen blends. In 2004, HyRadix installed its first commercial AdDeo(TM) system in a hydrogen refueling station at SunLine Transit Agency in Thousand Palms, California.

Jonathan Wilkinson, President and CEO of QuestAir said, "HyRadix is well positioned to become a leading supplier of hydrogen generation systems in both industrial markets and the development of hydrogen fueling infrastructure. We believe that HyRadix's range of hydrogen generators, including QuestAir's purification equipment, will offer customers a strong economic proposition for reliable on- site hydrogen supply."

Robert Gray, President and CEO of HyRadix said, "QuestAir's H- 3200 PSA system demonstrated excellent performance and reliability during a recent demonstration test at our test facilities. These product features, combined with the small footprint of the H-3200 design, make QuestAir's H-3200 the best choice for HyRadix's commercial Aptus and AdDeo hydrogen generators."

QuestAir's H-3200 purifies hydrogen-containing gas streams to high purity hydrogen for use in industrial processes, hydrogen fueling stations and stationary fuel cell power plants. The H- 3200's optimized Pressure Swing Adsorption ("PSA") process and proprietary rotary valve technology deliver higher efficiency than conventional PSA systems in a more compact, cost effective package. Since the product launch in 2003, QuestAir has sold more than 25 H- 3200 systems to customers in Europe, Japan and North America.
