Sierra Pacific Resources Issues Request for Proposals for Renewable Energy
LAS VEGAS, May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/
Sierra Pacific Resources has announced that its two Nevada-based utility subsidiaries, Nevada Power Company and Sierra Pacific Power Company, have issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for energy and credits generated by renewable energy fuel sources.
Sierra Pacific Resources is seeking renewable proposals totaling
approximately 200 megawatts of wind, geothermal, hydro, biomass, reverse
polymerization and biogas, and 70 megawatts of solar.
The law contains a provision that requires providers of electric service to
increase the use of renewable energy by two percent every other year, until the
provider's renewable energy portfolio accounts for 15 percent of its total
energy sales by the year 2013. The total for solar-generated power must be at
least five percent of the total renewable energy portfolio.
Parties interested in submitting a response or additional information related
to the RFP and renewable energy laws are encouraged to visit the companies'
