Santa Ana, CA/ November 2, 2005 (News Release)

Interliance, LLC. Management Consulting released the white paper "The High Costs of Losing Intellectual Capital," by Energy Central's Research & Analysis Division and expert Warren Causey. The white paper is based on an independent study conducted amongst over 150 utility industry C-level executives, operations and plant managers to determine how they view the affects of an aging workforce on their company.

Surprising results were revealed: "The problem might be worse than was previously expected. Among its findings, the study suggested that a major disconnect could exist among many utility executives and the lower level operations and engineering personnel who are charged with operating and maintaining the utility's mission critical T&D and generation functions."

Also in the white paper are the actual positions expected to suffer the most due to worker and knowledge shortage and how management must make process improvement and knowledge transfer a top priority for these key personnel.

"Lower managers and supervisors remain divided over the need for a strategic workforce planning process, and they are less likely to tout automation as the best approach to replace people lost through attrition. In fact, anecdotal evidence suggests just the opposite, that automation is often feared because it is strategically implemented with a primary goal to reduce the number of people within an organization. In order to close these planning gaps, executive management must have a good understanding of the daily activities that are performed within the organization."

The white paper is available for free download at www.interliance-knowledge.com and further reports will be published regarding the study over the next several months at the same address.
