The US Department of Energy has published its plans for the Climate Change
Technology Programme, a pact it entered earlier this year with six Asian nations
to reduce greenhouse gases through technological development.
The draft plan outlined that $ 3bn of federal funds would be made available for
climate change related technology research, development, demonstration and
deployment.
The technologies developed under the programme will be used and deployed
between the US and its partners, Australia, China, India, South Korea and Japan.
The Department's plan sets six goals for the programme to accomplish. Among them
are plans to reduce emissions from energy use and infrastructure, reduce
emissions from energy supply and reduce emissions through capturing and
sequestering carbon dioxide.
