Novelis improves
British plant to increase recycling of cans
Oct. 10
Atlanta-based Novelis Inc. completed a $2.5 million project to
increase the recycling of used beverage cans at its Warrington recycling
plant in England.
The site recycled 6 billion used beverage cans during the first nine
months of this year, a new plant record, Novelis said. Novelis recycled
more than 30 billion cans globally in 2004.
The improvements at the Warrington plant will increase recycling
capacity by 25 percent, the company said.
Novelis, with 36 sites in 11 countries, focuses on aluminum rolled
products and aluminum can recycling. The company was spun off by Alcan
Inc. in January.
