Pittsburgh manager guilty of wastewater tampering
 
Oct. 6 -- The former plant manager of Iron City Uniform Rental Co. in Pittsburgh has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to violate the Clean Water Act.

James J. Bell, of Glenshaw, Pa., admitted to conspiring with others to alter wastewater samples from the uniform company´s laundry. The samples either were tampered with to yield false results or taken from sampling locations not authorized by the company’s wastewater discharge permit.

The laundry monthly discharges about 1 million gallons of wastewater, which contains benzene, toluene and oil. Bell faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
