Senate Energy panel approves budget measure with ANWR drilling

Washington (Platts)--19Oct2005
The US Senate's Energy Committee on Wednesday approved by a 13-9 vote its
portion of the Senate version of the 2006 federal budget reconciliation bill,
which includes a provision allowing for drilling in Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge.
The overall budget bill is scheduled to be taken up by Senate Budget
Committee next week. The budget bill, if approved by the Senate, still must go
through the reconciliation process with the House.
The Senate bill would raise $2.4-bil in revenues in five years from ANWR
drilling, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
