DaimlerChrysler hits
milestone for fuel-cell vehicles
Sept. 27 - Fuel-cell vehicles made by DaimlerChrysler have now traveled
more than 1 million miles and saved an estimated 50,000 gallons of
gasoline and diesel fuel, the company said.
The pollution-free vehicles, which rely on hydrogen instead of
traditional fuel, are in place around the world and represent a $1
billion investment by the company, DaimlerChrysler said.
"Hydrogen has the potential to become an important energy source in
the future," said Mark Chernoby, vice president of advance vehicle
engineering with the company. "This marks another milestone in
DaimlerChrysler´s journey to the long-term goals of zero emission
transportation and to reducing our nation´s dependency on foreign oil."
