Henry Hub force majeure continues: Sabine Pipeline

Washington (Platts)--29Sep2005
Sabine Pipeline LLC says its 131-mile pipeline system, which includes
Henry Hub, remained shut down Thursday, one week after the pipeline declared
force majeure ahead of Hurricane Rita.
In a notice issued late Wednesday, Sabine said that although power
remains out over most parts of its Erath, Louisiana-to-Port Arthur, Texas
system, it has commenced efforts to clean up and restore operation of the
pipeline.
It said it is installing temporary communication systems and seeking
permits and waivers to "facilitate" the effort. The company offered no
timetable for restarting operations at Henry Hub, which is the delivery point
for the New York Mercantile Exchange's natural gas futures contract.
"Assessments continue on Sabine facilities to document items that can be
restored to service and identify those items requiring replacement," Sabine
said. "Temporary quarters, food services, sanitary facilities and temporary
power generation are being put in place at or near the Henry complex."
Sabine said its work to "dewater" the Henry Hub complex, near Erath, will
continue Thursday, which "will facilitate further assessment of above-ground
facilities." Sabine noted that its mainline has been "blocked and isolated
with no apparent loss of pressure."
The pipeline extends east-to-west directly across the portion of the Gulf
Coast that took the brunt of the hurricane's force as it made landfall.
