BEIJING (AFX) - Sept 20

The Russian government will invest 440 mln usd to build a hydro-power plant to export electricity to China, the official Xinhua news agency reported.

Xinhua said the power station will be built by the United Power System Corp about 80 km from the Chinese border in the Russian Far East. It did not give a more precise location but said the plant will be designed to generate 1.65 bln kilowatts of electricity a year.

Earlier this year, United Power System Corp signed a framework agreement to export power to China's State Grid Corp.
