Houston (Platts)--21Sep2005
US Gulf Coast gasoline cash differentials were up 50.5 cts/gal Wednesday
in a mad dash by traders to secure gasoline supplies with Hurricane Rita
hitting Category 4 status as it remained on a path toward Texas coastline.
Prompt prices jumped to 50 cts/gal over the October NYMEX from the
previous day's closing or 0.5 ct/gal under the NYMEX print.
The rally began in after-hours trading, with traders quickly pushing
gasoline prices to 25 cts/gal over the NYMEX after Platts published.
Jet fuel was up 3.5 cts/gal to 15.5 cts/gal over the October NYMEX from
the previous day's 12 cts/gal close. Heating oil moved to even with the NYMEX
after ranging 3.15 cts/gal under the NYMEX Tuesday. And low sulfur diesel was
talked at 10 cts/gal over the NYMEX, up 4 cts/gal from Tuesday's 6 cts/gal
average.
