Midwest to restart two coal-fired units in booming market

Washington DC (Platts)--30Aug2004

Midwest Generation is restarting two coal-fired units at its Will County plant
in Romeoville, Ill. The company had temporarily idled the units, totaling 310
MW, in early 2003 due to depressed power sales from its coal-fired fleet,
including cutbacks at a contract power customer, Exelon Energy. But power
markets have turned around. The units will restart fairly early in 2005 after
staffing and other logistics are resolved, a Midwest Gen spokesman said. He
noted that coal contracts have been in place but was unsure of details as to
additional coal deliveries once the two units restart.
