US regular gasoline prices fall 1.1 cts to $1.877/gal: EIA

The average price of regular gasoline in the US fell 1.1 cts to $1.877/gal for
the week ended Aug 9, the Energy Information Administration said Monday. The
price is still 30.6 cts/gal higher than the same week a year ago, the agency
said in its weekly report on retail gasoline prices. The West Coast fell by
the largest margin, down 2.7 cts, but still had the highest regional price in
the country at $2.035/gal. The Gulf Coast, home of most of the refineries in
the US, registered the lowest price in the country at $1.781/gal, down 0.9 ct
from the previous week. Only in the Midwest did the average price increase, by
0.2 ct to $1.846/gal. The average price for the East Coast fell 1.5 cts to
$1.869/gal, while the Rocky Mountain region, slid 0.8 ct to $1.900/gal.
