Sharp Corp. plans to expand its solar cell production lines in Japan,
boosting annual production output from 315 megawatts to 400 MW. The new line at
the Katsuragi Plant in Nara Prefecture will begin operating next month to cope
with burgeoning demand for solar power in Japan and abroad. Sharp said
residential applications are primarily driving solar cell demand, though
industrial and electric utility requirements are also growing. Copyright 2004 CMP Media LLC
