Forecaster
puts world DG
at 200,000 mw by `08
Allied Business
Intelligence of Oyster Bay, NY, is telling clients that DG contribution to the
grid may hit 200,000 mw as early as 2011 and that's worldwide.
Compare that with 65,000 today. They see
wind as the dominant (65%) generator in DG while small gas turbines get 22% and
fuel cells 6%.
They call it Growth Projections for Fuel Cells,
Photovoltaics, Wind Turbines, Reciprocating Engines, and Small Gas Turbines.
Meanwhile the world gas market was predicted to
grow at 2.4% over the next five years.
Business Communications Co (BCC) has a report not
yet released -- World Natural Gas Business -- that forecasts gas use worldwide
will grow 2.4% a year on average over the next five years and reach 117 tcf in
2008.
That demand will step up investments in getting
gas via unconventional sources -- coalbed methane, gas shales, tight sands and
landfill gas plus LNG and conventional sources.
BCC predicts over the five years for
unconventional sources a 10.7% growth rate while LNG use grows at 7+%.
