PIPA/Knowledge Networks will release the findings of an extensive nationwide poll on climate change and global warming, conducted from June 8 to 14 with 753 respondents.

Questions explored by the study include:

-- Do Americans believe that global warming is occurring? Do they favor taking steps to address the problem? Do they think that President Bush should develop a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions? What do they believe the scientific community thinks?

-- How does the public feel about the targets of the McCain- Lieberman legislation (Climate Stewardship Act)? Are they willing to accept significant costs to meet them?

-- Are Americans more or less likely to vote for candidates who support McCain-Lieberman or similar legislation? Who supports it and who opposes it?

-- How do they feel about trading emission allowances?

-- How do they feel about tax incentives for energy efficiency, CAFE standards, tax breaks for hybrid cars and other approaches?

-- What does the public perceive to be the views of their members of Congress, Congress as a whole and President Bush?

-- What do they expect from developing countries in dealing with climate change?

-- How ready do they think other Americans are to make the necessary efforts?
