Big Names to Speak at Renewable Energy Finance Forum

"Governor Richardson's interest in speaking to this conference illustrates how central the renewable energy agenda is becoming in US policy-making, and how critical finance has become in getting it done."

- Dan Reicher, a conference co-chair, former US Assistant Secretary of Energy for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy

New York, New York - June 15, 2004 [SolarAccess.com] New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, the UK's Minister of State for Energy Stephen Timms, and Germany's renewable energy leader and member of the Bundestag Hermann Scheer have been added as speakers to the already high level list of 40 speakers at the "Renewable Energy Finance Forum: Wall Street," June 23-24, 2004 at the Metropolitan Club in New York City, co-organized by the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE) and Euromoney, the publisher of Institutional Investor Magazine.

Dan Reicher, a conference co-chair, former US Assistant Secretary of Energy for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, and now President of New Energy Capital said, "Governor Richardson's interest in speaking to this conference illustrates how central the renewable energy agenda is becoming in US policy-making, and how critical finance has become in getting it done. With oil prices at high levels, and continuing turmoil in the Middle East, financiers from Wall Street to Silicon Valley are recognizing that renewable energy offers an increasingly attractive investment opportunity."

Minister Timms will offer the UK's perspective, following leadership by Prime Minister Tony Blair's government in recent years, leading the G-8 Renewable Energy Task Force and forging the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP), a new global alliance.

Hermann Scheer's presence follows Germany's hosting of the International Conference on Renewable Energies 2004 that was just held in Bonn, with participation of 154 countries and numerous national commitments for the adoption of renewables.

Speakers from the financial community will include top professionals from CalPERS, TCW, Fortis Bank, Dexia Credit, Babcock & Brown, Credit Suisse First Boston, ArcLight, Marathon Capital, New Energy Capital, Nth Power, Perseus, Winslow Management, and others. Industry speakers include top executives from GE Wind Energy, Cape Wind Associates, and American Electric Power.
