Groups to sue EPA over coal-fired plants From Associated Press, Bloomberg News and New York Times reports Thursday, June 3, 2004 A coalition of groups announced plans to sue the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency for allegedly failing to stop pollution from coal-fired power
plants in the Chicago area. The groups say Midwest Generation, which bought the
plants from Commonwealth Edison in 1999, has been operating plants that
contribute significant amounts of air pollution to the Chicago area in violation
of the Clean Air Act.
