Honolulu City Council passed a solar bond

Good news to share: On Friday, June 4, the Honolulu City Council passed a solar bond--$7.85 million for solar and energy efficiency for public buildings.

This is slightly down from the $10 million that Mayor Harris requested, but we are working with city staff to make up any shortfall with financing from other sources. Any building that can use solar will get solar.

On Thursday, Governor Lingle signed bills raising the net metering limit to 50 kW and the limit on performance contracting terms from 15 years to 20 years. Both of these bills are important in expanding the solar deployment options.
