Norway is already producing at full capacity

Norway, the world's third-biggest oil exporter after Saudi Arabia and Russia, reiterated it is already producing oil at full capacity.

Responding to an OPEC call for non-OPEC oil producers to step up their output, Norwegian Oil and Energy Ministry spokesman Lars Nemoen said: "We are producing at our maximum capacity" of nearly 3 mm bpd.

In Jakarta, OPEC President Purnomo Yusgiantoro said the cartel will officially call on non-member producers to increase output in a bid to push world prices down.

"OPEC will send official letters to non-OPEC countries such as Mexico, Angola, Oman and Russia. We will ask them to increase their production to curb rising oil prices," Yusgiantoro, who is also Indonesia's energy minister, told.
