US regular gasoline slips 4.9 cts to $1.985/gal: EIA

The average price for US retail regular-grade gasoline has dropped for the third straight week, sliding 4.9 cts over the past seven days to $1.985/gal, the US Energy Information Administration reported Monday. Despite the drop, which brought prices down from a high of $2.064/gal as of the week ended May 24, nationwide average pump prices were still 46.7 cts higher than the corresponding week a year ago. Midwest regular prices fell the most week-to-week, plummeting 9.3 cts to $1.882/gal. West Coast regional average pump prices, the highest in the nation, dropped 3.3 cts for the week ended June 14 to average $2.243/gal. East Coast retail prices slipped 2.7 cts to average $1.999/gal. Gulf Coast prices dipped 2.8 cts to average $1.882/gal, while Rocky Mountain prices dropped 2.4 ct to $1.982/gal.
