Wisconsin Governor Proposes 10 Percent RPS

June 3, 2004 [SolarAccess.com]Wisconsin's Governor Jim Doyle proposed an ambitious plan for the state to meet 10 percent of their electric demand through renewable energy projects by 2015, according to reporting from the Capital Times. To show the state government's part in pushing ahead the effort, Doyle called on the state to secure 10 percent of its own electricity from renewables by 2006 and up to 20 percent by 2010. Once they become statewide law, such measures - known as Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) - have been instrumental in jumpstarting development of renewable energy projects like wind farms, solar power plants, and other technologies.
