Gas pipeline, LDC representatives cheered by election results

Washington (Platts)--3Nov2004

Pointing to a continuing need to develop more energy infrastructure, gas
pipeline and distributor representatives on Wednesday joined producers in
applauding the reelection of President Bush and gains by Republicans in the
Senate and House. "Overall, the administration has been supportive...of
pipeline infrastructure and LNG," said Interstate Natural Gas Assn of America
President Donald Santa Jr. With the Bush administration set for four more
years, the Dept of Interior can be expected to continue initiatives and
practices aimed at "streamlining gas drilling permitting," added Roger Cooper,
executive vice president of the American Gas Assn. "That's a positive for the
consumer" because it should grease the skids for the gas industry to "continue
to ramp up production." That "could have changed under a Kerry
administration," Cooper maintained.
