The Coming Electrical Energy Shortage

October 07, 2004 — By Innovative Logical Solutions

Pick up any newspaper almost daily, listen to the major media. They all forecast a major shortfall in electrical energy production in the near future due to increased population, an improved economy and increased growth in business.

In order to solve this very serious universal problem we must look at what we have most available. What we have and will always have as long as people consume is right in front of us everyday, the answer is simple:

Municipal solid waste, Sewage sludge, animal waste from the multitude of dairy farms, Hog and chicken farms, green waste, used tires and many other forms of waste.

To give an example of volumes of municipal solid waste generated, New York City produces 25,000 tons daily. Orange County in Southern California produces 19,700 tons daily.

The dairy industry in California produces 30,000,000 tons of manure each year with a portion going to farmers for fertilizer and the rest going to landfills. The Hog farmers in the middle west of the USA produce vast quantities of Hog manure. Millions of used tires go to land fills or are burned which creates more air pollution. In Northern California there are 540,000 acres of land devoted to Almond production. Once a year these Almond trees are trimmed with one ton of trimmings per acre to create 540,000 tons of green waste that is burned and pollutes the atmosphere

Given the fact that we have these quantities of fuel source available, what do we do with it.? We can’t burn it. That creates toxic residues, toxic emissions and is very inefficient.

So rather than being stuck for a solution to create electrical energy from waste, Innovative Logical Solutions (ILS-Partners, Inc. and Pyromex A.G. are introducing to the USA a dramatic new technology that has been in development for 12 years, holds 64 world wide patents and has been operational in Germany for nearly three years. For a complete technical description see ILS, Pyromex (www.ils-partners.com) .

This dramatic system is non-polluting and is one tenth the size of an equivalent facility that burns the feedstock. The system meets or surpasses all environmental standards in Germany and California, two of the most environmentally stringent government entities in the world.

Briefly, the system operates by removing all oxygen from the feedstock and radiating it at temperatures from 1000 to 1700 degrees Centigrade. This process converts the feedstock into a synthetic gas that can be used to create electricity while producing no harmful emissions. The solid residue from the process is an inert, non-leachable basalt material, completely non-toxic that can be used for construction, road building or many other uses. The residue volume is typically less that .5% of the original feed stock.

This is a dramatic and timely system t/hat solves major pollution and landfill problems while creating electrical energy. For example: 300 tons of waste has the potential of creating approximately 20 Mega Watts of electricity. This is enough power to supply a small city. Just imagine the energy potential contained in the many forms of waste material that are disposed of in land fills each year.

Using waste for power will go a long way in providing our nations power needs for years to come while reducing dependency on valuable natural resources.

Although much publicity and effort has been given to other forms of renewable energy such as Solar, Wind, Geothermal and Biomass, none gives the added advantage of eliminating all forms of waste. This has the potential to significantly reduce the dependencies on Land Fills, a major blight in the USA, while eliminating all toxic byproducts.
