U.S. nuclear generation heading for record year, says EIA

U.S. nuclear generation is on track for a record year, DOE's Energy
Information Administration (EIA) said today. "[N]uclear generation in the
first 8 months of 2004 continues at a higher pace than in either the
comparable period of 2003 or 2002, the record year for nuclear output," EIA
said. U.S. nuclear electricity generation from January through August 2004
totaled 532,882,358 net megawatts (MW), compared with net 511,921,124 MW for
the same period in 2003, EIA said. EIA's report is available online at
