The managing director of Iran Fuel Consumption Organization announced that
the number of compressed natural gas (CNG) fuelling stations will reach 100 by
the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 2005). The official noted that fuelling capacity of CNG stations for buses in Tehran
will reach 5,000 in 24 hours, adding that stations currently provide services to
2,000 buses in 24 hours, but the figure will be increased to 3,000 by late
September and 5,000 by the end of November.

Mahdi Hashemi added that 184 stations will be established during the first stage
of the plan in various cities throughout the country of which 29 stations are
now ready, 23 stations are ready for operation and 105 stations are being built.
He said CNG fuelling stations can supply fuel to 36,500 sedan cars and 2,600
buses throughout the country.
