US FERC chief applauds PJM expansion, AmerenIP's move into MISO

The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Chairman Pat Wood Friday said
the formal integration of American Electric Power and Dayton Power & Light
into the PJM Interconnection at midnight today shows regional independent grid
operators are "moving ahead, delivering improved reliability, transparent
market monitoring and oversight, and tangible economic benefits." Wood the
AEP, DP&L integration, along with Ameren's announcement Friday that its newly
acquired Illinois Power unit, known as AmerenIP, had joined the Midwest
Independent Transmission System Operator a "real hat trick win for customers."
Wood was present at PJM's headquarters in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, when AEP
and DP&L transferred operational control of their transmission systems to PJM
at midnight. "Illinois Power's integration...with the Midwest ISO helps
complete the operational 'footprint' of the regional transmission
organization," Wood said.
