New 187-Watt "d.Blue" is Kyocera's Most Powerful Solar PV Module to Date

"The KC187G raises the performance bar of our solar energy products, while reducing total installed system costs."

SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (September 13, 2004) - Kyocera Solar, Inc. today announced the introduction of a new photovoltaic (PV) module featuring a breakthrough in energy conversion efficiency using d.Blue technology, a new Kyocera-developed cell-processing method. Named in reference to its 187-watt maximum power output, the new KC187G is the largest, most efficient photovoltaic module Kyocera has marketed to date.

"Kyocera's new KC187G is the new flagship of the KC module line," said Mark Voitek, Kyocera Solar, Inc.'s General Manager of Sales. "Constant product improvement has always been a part of Kyocera's business philosophy. The KC187G raises the performance bar of our solar energy products, while reducing total installed system costs."

The newly developed d.Blue manufacturing process incorporated in the KC187G creates a microscopic texture on the cell's multi-crystalline silicon surface, reducing reflectance and maximizing the amount of sunlight the cell can absorb. The change is evident in the module's increased power output and "deep blue" color, which inspired the d.Blue name.

Kyocera's KC187G d.Blue module produces 187 watts of maximum power (7.17 Amps and 26.1 volts under Standard Test Conditions) in a form factor measuring 56.2" x 39" x 1.4," featuring "quick-connect" output cables, a heavy-duty box-style anodized aluminum frame and a 25-year power output warranty.

Sold exclusively through a network of Kyocera-authorized dealers and contractors, the new KC187G modules are ideal for all types of residential and commercial buildings. The dark blue cells and black module frames allow a d.Blue system to blend visually with a buildingıs architecture while producing energy at increased efficiencies.
