Report Targets Energy Waste
Sep 28 - Printweek
A BPIF-commissioned report aims to highlight ways of reducing energy consumption and costs, at a time when some companies face price increases of 60%.
Compiled by consultant Raymond Babb, the report highlights energy saving
opportunities that can be implemented with ease, at little or no cost.
These include the setting up of a structured approach to energy management
and conservation, which could achieve overall savings of 15% and the
introduction of energy awareness campaigns, which can save as much as 10%.
Further savings can be made by the shutting down of machinery when not in
use, estimated to provide savings of 2%.
BPIF commercial products manager Steve Walker said the study was particularly
timely given a number of BPIF members had reported possible energy price
increases of around 60%.
Although shopping through energy brokers to get best prices can mitigate
this, Walker said this would offer permanent immunity to further increases.
