U.S., Japan to work on hydrogen and fuel cell research
Washington (Nuclear News Flashes)--09Jan2004
The U.S. and Japan Jan. 9 agreed to work together on
hydrogen and fuel cell research. U.S. Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham said both
countries recognize the importance of R&D to the development of a hydrogen
economy and of cost-effective technologies to meet future global energy needs.
"International cooperation is key to achieving the hydrogen and fuel cell
program goals outlined by President Bush," Abraham said. Both countries
intend to bring together specialists in workshops and seminars, as well as to
exchange experts and information on technological programs and developments in
the areas of fuel cells and hydrogen production, storage, and transport
technologies. The U.S. and Japan are members of the International Partnership
for the Hydrogen Economy, comprised of 14 nations and the European Commission.
