ACC Plans Briefing on Natural Gas Issues
Commissioners Also Invite Public Comment

PHOENIX – Arizona’s Corporation Commissioners are holding a regional briefing on natural gas prices, recent changes in the wholesale cost of natural gas and inviting public comment from Northern Arizona residents. The forum will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 at the Elks Opera House in downtown Prescott, starting at 6:00 p.m. The Elks Opera House is located at 113 East Gurley Street.

The public forum will provide Northern Arizona residents with clear information about the wholesale natural gas costs, the way utility rates are structured and ways to decrease gas consumption while remaining comfortable in your home or business. The Commissioners are reserving time to allow residents to comment on related concerns. Representatives of UniSource Energy Services, the company that acquired the Electric and Gas Divisions of Citizens Communications in August 2003, will also attend.

The meeting is expected to last approximately two hours and with the anticipated format as follows:

  • Briefing on factors that influence the actual cost of natural gas;
  • Briefing on the outcome of the recent UniSource/Citizens case and changes to the base rates for gas service; and
  • Discussion of strategies consumers can use to lower their heating bills or mitigate the monthly fluctuations in their bills.
  • Open forum and public comment
  • Concluding remarks from Commissioners
