Domenici proposes tax credit for advanced nuclear plants
Washington (Platts)--16Apr2004
A 1.8-cent per kilowatt-hour tax credit for advanced nuclear plants will be offered by Sen. Pete Domenici (R-N.M.) during expected debate on a corporate tax bill into which other tax provisions of Domenici's energy bill have been incorporated. That tax credit was part of Domenici's original 2003 energy bill but was not included in the stripped-down compromise version that is pending Senate action. Domenici told the North American Energy Summit in Albuquerque, N.M. today that he was confident the tax bill, S 1637, would pass, probably next week, and the Senate would then proceed to his energy bill. Disagreement on debate terms between Republicans and Democrats has held up the energy bill. Domenici said moving tax provisions to the Foreign Sales Corp./Extraterritorial Income bill avoided budget points of order that could have threatened the larger energy bill.
